Allows connection of up to four IDE devices in two chains, each with one master/one slave unit. This requires software that supports two channels (eg ATAPI Plug 'n Play / ASIMCDFS) but this is NOT supplied. Provides buffering between the IDE devices and the CPU (for protection of the CPU).
